“Argentina tiene tres proyectos de litio en etapa operativa y seis en construcción”, señaló Fernanda Ávila, Secretaria de Minería del país, en el foro energético organizado en Buenos Aires por la Cámara de Comercio de Estados Unidos en la Argentina (AmCham).

La secretaria de Minería, afirmó que la Argentina pasará de las actuales exportaciones de 34.000 toneladas de carbonato de litio a 400.000 toneladas en los próximos años.

La funcionaria compartió el panel “Minerales estratégicos: potencial y desafíos en la promoción de la cadena de valor local”, junto con la secretaría de Energía y Minería de la provincia argentina de Salta, Romina Sassarini, y el ministro de Desarrollo Económico y Producción de Jujuy, Juan Carlos Abud Robles.

“Argentina ya integra el tren de desarrollo de la minería, fuertemente impulsada por el litio. El año pasado se exportaron US$ 3.800 millones en materia minera en lo que fue el mejor resultado desde 2012”, remarcó Ávila.

La funcionaria admitió que “aún existen dificultades a resolver”, a la vez que resaltó que “en los últimos tres años se registró el mayor nivel de atención de los inversores, con proyectos que superan los US$ 17.000 millones”.

Por su parte, Sassarini recordó que las inversiones mineras generaron en Salta “28 meses de crecimiento ininterrumpido del empleo”, al tiempo que enfatizó la importancia de avanzar con todos los proyectos en un marco de “desarrollo con licencia social”.

Por su parte, el funcionario jujeño explicó que esa provincia está viviendo el “boom del litio”, con presencia del “proveedores de todos los colores y capacitación a las comunidades”

The official shared the panel “Strategic minerals: potential and challenges in the promotion of the local value chain”, together with the Secretary of Energy and Mining of the Argentine province of Salta, Romina Sassarini, and the Minister of Economic Development and Production of Jujuy, Juan Carlos Abud Robles.

“Argentina is already part of the mining development train, strongly driven by lithium. Last year, US$ 3.8 billion in mining exports were exported in what was the best result since 2012”, remarked Ávila.

The mining official admitted that “there are still difficulties to be solved”, while highlighting that “in the last three years there has been the highest level of attention from investors, with projects that exceed US$ 17,000 million”.

On his part, Sassarini recalled that mining investments generated in Salta “28 months of uninterrupted employment growth”, while he emphasized the importance of advancing with all the projects within a framework of “development with social license”.

On the other hand, the official from Jujuy explained that this province is experiencing a “lithium boom”, with the presence of “suppliers of all colors and training for the communities”.
