Chile: Documento completo de Clasificación de sistemas salinos en la Estrategia Nacional del Litio ► Chile: The complete National Lithium Strategy Classification of Saline Systems document

El Ministerio de Minería chileno publicó un documento donde se muestra la clasificación de sistemas salinos en la Estrategia Nacional del Litio.
La Estrategia Nacional del Litio ha comprometido la creación de una Red de Salares Protegidos con el objetivo de resguardar un porcentaje representativo de ecosistemas salinos (lagunas salinas y salares), en sintonía con el Marco Global para la Biodiversidad de la Convención de la Diversidad Biológica y, en el caso de los ecosistemas con proyectos, se buscará asegurar el uso de tecnologías de bajo impacto ambiental.

De esta forma, el Ministerio de Minería de Chile, con el compromiso de proteger al menos un 30% de los ecosistemas al 2030, en línea con las obligaciones internacionales mencionadas, dio a conocer los salares podrían ser parte de esta red.

En el documento se especifican los sistemas salinos que quedan excluidos total o parcialmente, por acuerdo del Comité de Ministros de Litios y Salares. Uno de ellos son los proyectos con participación mayoritaria del Estado. Salares que, dada su importancia estratégica, donde el Estado tendrá una participación mayoritaria con alianzas público-privadas.

También, salares donde Codelco, en el salar de Pedernales, y Enami, en el marco del proyecto Salares Alto Andinos (salares Grande, Los Infieles, La Isla y Aguilar), podrán desarrollar sus proyectos.

Asimismo, el documento muestra los salares que actualmente se encuentran parcial y/o totalmente protegidos de acuerdo con las categorías del SNASPE (Sistema Nacional de Áreas Silvestres Protegidas del Estado) y los Santuarios de la Naturaleza. Junto con los salares para propuesta de estudios para ser parte de la Red de salares protegidos.

The Chilean Ministry of Mining published a document showing the classification of saline systems in the National Lithium Strategy.
The National Lithium Strategy has committed to the creation of a Network of Protected Salt Flats with the objective of protecting a representative percentage of saline ecosystems (saline lagoons and salt flats), in line with the Global Framework for Biodiversity of the Convention on Biological Diversity and, in the case of ecosystems with projects, it will seek to ensure the use of technologies with low environmental impact.

In this way, the Chilean Ministry of Mining, with the commitment to protect at least 30% of the ecosystems by 2030, in line with the aforementioned international obligations, made known the salt flats that could be part of this network.

The document specifies the saline systems that are totally or partially excluded, by agreement of the Committee of Ministers of Lithium and Salars. One of them are the projects with majority participation of the State. Salt flats that, given their strategic importance, where the State will have a majority participation with public-private alliances.

Also, salt flats where Codelco, in the Pedernales salt flat, and Enami, within the framework of the Salares Alto Andinos project (Salares Grande, Los Infieles, La Isla and Aguilar salt flats), will be able to develop their projects.

The document also shows the salt flats that are currently partially and/or totally protected according to the categories of the SNASPE (National System of State Wildlife Protected Areas) and Nature Sanctuaries. Along with the salt flats for proposed studies to be part of the Network of Protected Salt Flats.
